I stumbled upon this PPM Tool "WorkLenz" few days ago. This product is owned by Metier famous for "PMO Central Comic" & "Dr. Metier" the so called PMO Doctor. As curious I was after running through a bunch of slides with cartoons, I finally got a chance to see the product. Before I begin writing my findings, here is what Metier claims about WorkLenz:
"WorkLenz will provide the foundation for your project portfolio management (PPM) initiative. At half the price of popular project management tools, WorkLenz combines the full functionality for project, program and portfolio management in one system. Unlike other PPM tools, WorkLenz structures and analyzes your project data to predict problems before they occur. It identifies money-saving process improvements as you work, not after projects are behind schedule or over budget. WorkLenz brings the following solutions to your business challenges:
WorkLenz provides a comprehensive knowledge and project management solution with affordable price on the market. Federal Agency for Emergency recently opted for this product for information management. Though the Outcome of their selection or a case study is yet to arrive in market, track record shows, WorkLenz tracks and analyzes actual project execution data historically, allowing to reproduce successful project implementations and earn new projects by accurately predicting projected costs. As we have not provided you with a demonstration of WorkLenz, we wanted to take the opportunity now to correct some of the inaccurate information in your product review. Since we appreciate your need for a complete and objective assessment, we must clarify some of the claims that you’ve made:
• The Risk Management tool in WorkLenz is robust, and does, in fact, include alerts and mitigation plans.
• WorkLenz does have Windows Authentication, single user login and Active Directory synchronization.
• WorkLenz provides advanced and automated workflow capabilities.
• WorkLenz has successfully passed vigorous security testing both in the public and private sectors. WorkLenz received accolades from Salesforce.com during certification testing for our inclusion on the AppExchange. WorkLenz has passed rigorous certification and accreditation testing (per National Security Agency Guidelines) to operate on several classified government networks.
• Full product training is, in fact, available in the market, as well as project management, portfolio management and PMO training. Métier is a PMI Registered Education Provider, and all training classes will earn participants Professional Development Units (PDUs).
• PMO Central does provide ongoing help desk, training and support for WorkLenz, as well as on demand, immediate subject matter expert support for project management, risk management, earned value, and all other aspects of PPM and process improvement.
• Métier has chosen NOT to participate in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. However, when the FBI commissioned Gartner to provide an open trade study, WorkLenz was selected as their agency-wide PPM system.
• WorkLenz does integrate with MS Office tools, allowing data and reports to be imported, exported or viewed from PowerPoint, Excel, and other Office applications. The application ships with integration for both MS Project Client and MS Project Server.

In a market, where Gartner's magic quadrant is a benchmark for any ppm tool, I dont quite digest why you dont choose to participate in the survey!!!
Btw, I am using your tool on a daily basis and contrary to your claims, WorkLenz is far behind in the race.
We are also reviewing this tool's perfoamance and user friendliness which has been a prime concern for many of us.

Excited to see Dr. meter in Epmguru. I visited the site and liked the way Dr. Meter explains all problems and drags you down to use WorkLenz. Certainly a different approach! Its a sorry fact that the vendor chooses not provide a demo version available on their website.

Hey Jenifer,
I think most of the comments what you claim to be correct are untrue even though I didnt get a chance to see the complete review.
I was using this tool for sometime and you know what, until you do some serious comparision to the tool, you will be only limted to some govt agencies who are not quite sure about other tools.
WorkLenz have the potential but needs some serious insight look to rennovate the tool. Comments will be appreciated.
